“My client was my new neighbor who I met only for a few months. She came to me one day and said she was ready to buy. I referred her to my loan officer/lender due to a great relationship. She decided to work with her bank (she had been with her for a while) and reached out online and got a great quote. I was happy to hear she was happy with her rate and reached out to the loan officer to build our relationship and understand her loan better to keep it as smooth as possible for my client.

I was never able to get a confirmed loan amount which worried me a bit so I was on top of him checking in almost every day. We went into contract and ratified and later found out the loan couldn’t be supported, therefore, I reached out to my loan officers that I referred her and processed the application and got her the loan at a great rate and kept the COE at 21 days! My lender was on vacation, to say the least, and I was on the phone with him daily to ensure all paperwork was completed to push it through.

My relationship with my lenders and their efforts were able to get this done efficiently and on time for COE. In Addition, I was able to negotiate the home for under market value saving over $100K+.”

The Takeaway

Be it the patience and communication skills needed to rise to a last-minute loan challenge while keeping to a 21 day COE or an overall philosophy of empathy and building long term relationships, soft skills are needed for real estate agents.
