Rising Vancouver home prices narrow the line between West and East

A “new phenomenon” has led to the affordable East Vancouver getting as expensive as those on the affluent West Vancouver. The conventional split between East and West holds generally, but with increasing prices on the Eastside, the gap is turning into a thin, fine line. According to REBGV, the benchmark price of a detached home in East Vancouver ↑ to $1,689,700 in August 2021. Meanwhile, a typical detached home in West Vancouver was $3,462,200. Single-family home prices on the East Side ↑ 12.4% YoY vs. ↑ 12.2% on the West Side. With still more affordable prices and close-knit neighbourhoods, East Vancouver attracts families, where they can get a little more home for their money.
