B.C. growth resumes after mid-summer stumble

BC total employment ↑ 0.5% to 2.638M persons in August, consistent with the national increase, but lagged behind Ontario and Alberta. With the unemployment rate ↓ to 6.2% from 6.6%, B.C. has recorded the strongest job recovery, exceeding pre-pandemic levels. In Metro Vancouver: Employment ↑ 0.9% Unemployment ↓ 6.7% from 7.3%. Full-time employment ↑ 0.8% to 16,900 persons Private-sector hiring ↑ 1.7% and self-employment rebounded modestly, offsetting public-sector losses and pointing to more economic vibrancy.
