San Mateo

One of the Peninsula's most diverse and dynamic cities, San Mateo offers a lively downtown, excellent dining, and a wide range of housing options — from classic bungalows to modern condos. Buyers love the balance of urban amenities and neighborhood character.

Palo Alto

Home to Stanford University and the heart of Silicon Valley's innovation culture, Palo Alto attracts buyers who want prestige, excellent schools, and a walkable downtown. Its real estate is among the most sought-after on the entire Peninsula.

Menlo Park

Bordering Palo Alto, Menlo Park blends quiet residential streets with a thriving tech-adjacent economy. The Sharon Heights and Allied Arts neighborhoods appeal to buyers seeking elegance, green space, and strong long-term investment value.

What My Clients Are Saying

★★★★★

“Lynne Mercer is a phenomenal realtor. Thanks to her energy, organization, and knowledge we sold our house (over asking price) in less than a week. Lynne provided invaluable guidance as we prepared our house for sale, sold it, and purchased another house. In so doing, she was in constant communication with us, explaining every detail of the process. We were impressed with her integrity, warmth, dedication, and attention to detail. Because of the relationship we developed with Lynne, we look forward to working with her in the future. We consider Lynne to be our friend as well as our Realtor.”

— Cindy and Antonio

★★★★★

“...We were amazed at her industry connections, insight, funny anecdotes, and endless energy. Sometimes you are fortunate to connect with real professionals that excel at what they do. We got that with Lynne and very highly recommend her.”

— Ryan and Beverley

★★★★★

“Selling a house is an intimidating experience, and Lynne had infinite patience, not only explaining the process, the forms and setting expectations, but never making me feel ignorant or stupid. She is an amazing agent, psychiatrist and of course salesperson. resulting in an amazing, almost unbelievable offer after only one weekend of open houses. After signing and accepting the offer, awaiting all of the deposits, signed papers and so on dragged on due to no fault on our side, but she was there to talk me through the paranoia I felt waiting for everything to close. There is no substitute for experience. Lynne has multiple decades of experience in real estate, the patience of a saint, product knowledge and skills beyond measure. I recommend her without hesitation.”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions from Peninsula Home Buyers

How competitive is the San Francisco Peninsula housing market for buyers?

The Peninsula remains one of the most competitive markets in California. Homes in desirable cities like Palo Alto, Burlingame, and Menlo Park often receive multiple offers. Having an experienced agent like Lynne in your corner — with deep local relationships and sharp negotiation skills — gives you a critical edge.

How much should I expect to put down as a buyer on the Peninsula?

While conventional loans may allow 5–20% down, many competitive offers on the Peninsula come in at 20% or more to strengthen the offer. I work closely with trusted local lenders who can help you explore the financing strategy that best fits your situation.

How long does the home-buying process typically take?

From initial search to closing, the process typically takes 2–4 months depending on market conditions, your specific criteria, and financing. I keep the process as smooth and efficient as possible so you can move in on your ideal timeline.

What neighborhoods on the Peninsula are best for families?

The Peninsula is exceptional for families, with top-rated school districts in Palo Alto, Burlingame, San Carlos, and San Mateo. The right neighborhood for your family depends on your priorities — I'll help you evaluate schools, commute, lifestyle, and budget together.

Do I need an agent if I already found a home I like online?

Absolutely — and especially on the Peninsula. I provide critical insights on fair market value, help you avoid overpaying, negotiate favorable terms, and guide you through disclosures and inspections. My representation costs you nothing as a buyer; the seller covers commission.
