The Lompoc City Council relies on taxes and fees from low to medium-income families, yet the majority of multifamily units in the city are occupied by them. The U.S. Census Bureau reported 20 percent of the population in Lompoc living in poverty in 2022. The city has offered developers incentives resulting in inadequate roads, police and fire services, and less revenue. This has made it difficult to provide adequate services to the community with the current financial situation.
