Affordable four-unit homes proposed as solution to housing crisis in Mississauga
Mississauga city councillor Alvin Tedjo is proposing the building of fourplexes to help alleviate the affordable housing crisis, which has been caused by increasing prices of homes and rent. The motion calls upon the city to allow homes with four units to be built, something that would provide residents with more affordable options and help the municipality meet housing targets set by the province. The average house price in Mississauga currently sits at $1,057,232, and average monthly rental rates are also high, coming in fourth on the list of 35 cities in August.
