I was nervous when I called Sandra, because my parents' house had received few updates since it was built in 1971. Many of the rooms still had carpets from the 1970s and '80s. Old 1970s paneling was still on the walls. Listing for sale was an emotional process for me, because Mom and Dad both passed away last year in their early eighties, two months apart, and this was the house I'd grown up in. I had spent months sifting through old mementos, finding new homes for furniture, dropping off bags and bags of donations at the Salvation Army thrift store in Cole Harbour, and cleaning.
