Over 1.2 million Americans enrolled in Medicare Advantage (MA) plans face coverage loss as major insurers reduce offerings by 2026 due to declining profitability and lower federal reimbursements. Nearly 2,000 counties will lose plans, mainly rural areas, while some metro areas gain options. Affected beneficiaries must act during the Medicare Open Enrollment Period (Oct 15-Dec 7) to switch plans or return to Original Medicare. Medicare costs, including Part B premiums and Part D deductibles, are rising. Cancelled MA plan holders can obtain Medigap policies without medical underwriting.
