In March, 28.8% of homebuyers paid all cash for properties, down from 29.8% the previous year and the lowest since 2020. All-cash purchases were highest in Cleveland and West Palm Beach (51.1%), followed by Detroit (45.8%) and parts of California and Florida. West Coast markets had lower cash purchase rates, with Seattle at 17.6%. Cash buying peaked near 35% in 2023 amid high mortgage rates but has since declined as buyers prefer financing and economic caution.
