Ontario's rental laws are changing with shorter deadlines for overdue rent payment after an N4 notice, reducing the time from 14 to 7 days. "Persistent" late rent is now defined as late payment on three occasions within six months. Landlords can give 120 days' notice to avoid compensation when ending tenancy for personal use. Tenants must pay 50% of arrears before L1 hearings to raise issues. Renoviction rules now require landlords to provide work updates and completion notices.
