Homeowner vacancy was 1.1%, rental vacancy 7.3%, with rental markets more flexible in cities than nonmetro areas. The South showed the highest vacancy rates. Homeownership declined for ages 45-54 but stayed stable for others. Racial gaps persist, with non-Hispanic Whites at 75% and Black and Hispanic rates at 44% and 48.2%, respectively.
