Home affordability in the U.S. declined for the fifth straight month in June, requiring an annual income of about $109,152 to qualify for a mortgage on a median-priced single-family home at $446,400. High home prices and mortgage rates averaging 6.57% continue to limit homeownership. Although affordability improved compared to last year due to rising incomes and slightly lower rates, monthly trends show buying remains challenging for middle-class buyers.
